Get to know the coach:
Hey friend! Avery here.
It feels like a dream to be creating a website for my health & nutrition coaching business, and yet here we are! I used to always joke and say that in another life I would be a nutritionist. Little did I know, God had it in His plan for me NOW to help women better steward their health.
I can remember laying in bed as a high schooler, watching Dr. Josh Axe videos on nutrition as I fell asleep at night. Call me nerdy but I have always been obsessed with learning about nutrition and how to give our bodies what they need to thrive. This passion continued through college and my young adult years but really didn’t take off until I found out I was pregnant with my first child. I wanted to know everything I possibly could about taking care of my body so this new little life inside of me would thrive.
Entering into motherhood changes lots of things about us as women, especially the things we’re most passionate about. I felt God stirring my heart for something new and knew it was time to walk away from my first career of serving full-time in the local church. God was calling me to make my home my first ministry while helping other women steward their health well for the sake of the Kingdom and their own families.
I completed several certifications to prepare for coaching. I am life coach certified through the Life Coach Training Institute and am a WAG certified nutrition coach (Working Against Gravity). I continue to learn and grow from field experts such as Mark Hyman, Stacy Sims, and Casey Means.
While my experience coaching others continues to grow, I’ve seen my own knowledge and expertise impact my own health. As early as middle school I remember struggling with some disordered eating patterns. I began to believe that eating less and skipping meals would make me skinny and that eating wasn’t as important as my productivity. As I progressed through high school and college, I began having extremely painful periods and other symptoms of imbalanced hormones in my body.
God transformed my relationship with food and my body in my early 20’s. I stopped viewing it as a project to fix but rather a gift to steward well. Through nutrition and lifestyle changes, I began experiencing pain free periods and minimal pms symptoms- signs my hormones were balancing out and my body was getting what it needed. When my husband and I began trying, we quickly conceived our firstborn - a gift from God but also a result of a well-prepared environment. Postpartum would be the real test, though. After doing some research and forming my nutrition plan, I quickly healed from delivery and, with time, found myself at my pre-pregnancy weight. What’s more, I had energy to show up for my newborn and my life. Some might call these things luck, I would call it good nutrition and an intentional lifestyle.
Our bodies weren’t designed to have really painful periods or hold onto excess weight. These things are signals to us from the body that there are deeper issues going on at the cellular level. When we give our cells enough of the things they need and limit exposure to the things they don’t, we begin to positively impact our tissues and organs and organ systems and, ultimately, our overall well-being. When things are off inside our bodies, it impacts our ability to fully show up for the life God has called us to.
Let’s take ownership over the bodies given to us by God to steward and make healthy cells together, friend! The Kingdom needs it! I can’t wait to work with you!
